KFRM BlogThe Before Picture By Kim L. Fritzemeier KFRM Central Kansas Reporter Farm Wife along the Stafford/Reno County Line
You know those advertisements where they show how bad someone looks before they take a magic pill and suddenly drop 10 pounds overnight? Or the exercise belt that vibrates and does the work for you? This isn't that kind of "before" picture. Surprisingly, the 2012 wheat crop is off to a decent start. Despite a summer of exceptional drought and record-setting days of 100-degree temperatures, the wheat crop looks good. We've had a few timely rains, including about 0.40 last week. And a Christmas song is supposed to come true today: Over the ground lies a mantle of white We'll see if the weather forecast is right and we end up with a Winter Wonderland. I wonder which weatherman is right: The one who says an inch or 2 or the one who says a foot? Time will tell, but we'll take the moisture and say, "Thank you!" And I'll be ready to take an "after" photo.
